INTRODUCTION TO SAILING COURSE

For Adults & Teenagers

DATE: 3 consecutive Sunday mornings:

February 9th, 16th & 23rd 2025

TIME: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

This very popular course is run over three Sunday mornings from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm, and involves both sailing theory and on-water sailing experience from our club instructors.

WHAT DO I LEARN?

• On-water sailing experience as crew & skipper
• Learning to steer a dinghy
• Safety on the water
• How to correctly rig a sailing boat
• Theory of how a boat sails into the wind
• Hands on experience skippering a boat with guidance from our instructors
• Theory on the basic racing rules of sailing
• Crewing opportunities available for the club's afternoon race (register your interest with the sailing instructors)

WHAT'S IT COST?

• Youth (under 18 years): $250
• Adults: $400
• Seniors (65 years plus): $350
• Adults who are fulltime students, unemployed or retired may be entitled to a discount on these fees.
• Be aware that sailing can be very weather dependent and if the weather is unsuitable for sailing we may have to make other arrangements.
• If you are unwell (particularly with covid symptoms) please stay at home — we will provide refunds or catch-up classes as required.

WHAT TO BRING?

• BYO lunch or purchase from our canteen
• Hat
• Rash shirt (long sleeved best to reduce sunburn)
• Sunscreen
• Drink bottle
• Towel
• Swimsuit
• Warm jacket (fleece or wool preferable to cotton as they don't hold the water as much) or spray jacket
• Extra DRY clothes to change into after getting wet
• Old sneakers or water shoes to wear in the boat (they will get wet)
• Wet suits are useful if you feel the cold
