Membership Information

  • PHOSC memberships fall due on 1st September each season valid until 31st August the following year.
  • Membership automatically gives you membership to Australian Sailing(AS), which provides personal accident insurance cover under their Sports Accident Insurance Scheme. Insurance is only valid for sailing at clubs who are associated with Australian Sailing. It does not include boat insurance which you must take out separately if you race a boat at the club.
  • Under the "2025-2028 Racing Rules of Sailing", it is mandatory that the skipper is an Australian Sailing member (current if has a membership of PHOSC or another club which is affiliated to Australian Sailing).
  • Everyone who sails at the club is required to be a member of PHOSC to ensure they are covered by Australian Sailing's Personal accident insurance which is included in a full memberships and SailPasses. Free Temporary memberships (SailPass) are available for up to 3 regular sailing days (does not include learn to sail course or sailing camp). After 3 sailing days, full membership is required.
  • All boat owners must maintain, at a minimum, current and up to date 3rd party boat insurance (at boat owners expense).
  • We recommend reading our Covid-19 safety plan to be updated with the latest rules.

Active and Creative Kids Vouchers

  • We are registered for the $50 Active Kids Sports Vouchers for use in individual or family memberships.
  • Enter voucher details at checkout. (Note: the voucher must be entered BEFORE payment to be valid.)

Annual Club Membership Fees 2026/2027

Membership Class Description Fees
Adult Membership One season sailing membership for adults 18 years and older. $340
Youth Membership One season sailing membership for under 18 years (on the 31st of December in the current season). PHOSC also requires Youth Sailors under the age of 12 to have a Parent or Guardian present on the pontoon to help with setting up and launching the boats. The Parent/Guardian needs to be an Adult, Social or Volunteer member of the club for insurance purposes (parent membership not required for summer sailing camp kids) $200
Full time Student Membership: 18 years and over who is a full time student when the membership is being renewed. Evidence of study may need to be provided $255
Social Membership: Non-sailing members (but who can sail up to a maximum of 3 days before needing to take out full sailing membership) $85
Life member: A member who has been honoured with lifelong membership after outstanding contributions to the club. $0  Donations appreciated
Volunteer Membership: Non-sailing volunteers who are significantly involved with the management of races or junior sailing. This membership is only at the discretion of the PHOSC management committee. $0

Instructor Membership: Temporary Membership for qualified Australian Sailing instructors attending the club to teach. $0
Learn to Sail Course (adult/teenager): 3 half day lessons. Each session involving land-based theory and on water sailing tuition. kids $250

Note:

  • Members whose subscriptions are not paid by the 2nd week of racing in the season shall be deemed non-financial and are not eligible to race or store boats until they are financial.
  • Skippers whose crews are not financial will not be eligible for championship or handicap points.

Note:

  • Racing Dinghy Storage is available only to full members who actively participate in club racing.
  • All boats must be covered with up to date 3rd party insurance.
  • Club membership is required to have a mooring.
  • Members whose storage fees are not paid by the 2nd week of racing in the season shall be deemed non-financial and are not eligible to race or score points until they are financial.
  • Boats that are not financial at the beginning of the season may forfeit their reserved location and if necessary will be asked to vacate the sheds.

Please note that by paying your membership to PHOSC you

  • agree to the Terms and Conditions of Membership;
  • agree to be bound by the Constitution, Rules and Policies of the club;
  • are bound by the Racing Rules of the Wold Sailing Organisation, the terms and conditions imposed by Australian Sailing, the Sailing Rules and Instructions of the Club and the appropriate Class and Associated Rules; and
  • agree that by paying for boat storage you will ensure your boats 3rd party insurance is up to date. You can update your details in your membership account login (top right corner of website home page). If you have forgotten your login details then contact the membership officer (PHOSCmembership@gmail.com) for your login name.

Australian Sailing Numbers

  • All previous members of any sailing club or any sailing lessons will have been issued an Australian Sailing Number.
  • Your Australian Sailing number is required for registration.
  • Search for your number at this link: Check my Australian Sailing Number.
  • If you can't find your Australian Sailing number in the link, then register as a new member rather than renewing as we can merge it with your old membership if you let us know what has happened.
