Adult and Teenage Learn to Sail course starts JAN 29th (PLACES STILL AVAILABLE) register online

INTRODUCTION TO SAILING COURSE:

DATE:   next course starting 29th January 2023. Let us know if you are interested or register to lock in your spot. Numbers are limited and there are only a couple of spots left.

TIME: 9:00am - 11:00pm 



This excellent course is run over four Sunday mornings from 9am-11am and involves both sailing theory and on-water sailing experience 

The series will cover:

  • on water sailing experience as crew & skipper 
  • learning to steer a dinghy
  • safety on the water
  • how to correctly rig a sailing boat
  • theory of how a boat sails into the wind
  • hands on experience skippering a boat with guidance from our instructors
  • theory on the basic racing rules of sailing
  • club membership also allows you to continue sailing at the club for the rest of the season to practice your new skills

 

COST: Full Adult, Student or Youth Membership fee plus $180 course fee  NOTE: lessons are NOT available with SAILPASS temporary memberships

Membership Fees:

  • Adults: $285
  • Full time Student(Adult): $215
  • Youth (under 18 years): $172 (active kids vouchers may be used)

The club membership covers: personal indemnity insurance and Sunday sailing for the remainder of the season (till end of April 2023), if you are keen to continue sailing with either the Heron, NS14 or Open fleet. This can be in one of the club boats as a skipper or as a crew. Discuss these options with your instructors.

  • Be aware that sailing can be very weather dependant and if the weather is unsuitable for sailing we may have to make other arrangements
  • If you are unwell (particuarly with covid symptoms) please stay at home - we will provide refunds or catch up classes if necessary.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • BYO Lunch or purchase from our canteen
  • Hat
  • Rash shirt (Long sleeved best to reduce sunburn)
  • Sunscreen
  • Drink bottle
  • Towel
  • Swimsuit
  • Warm Jacket (fleece or wool preferrable to cotton as they don't hold the water as much) or spray jacket
  • Extra DRY clothes to change into after getting wet
  • Old sneakers or water shoes to wear in the boat (they will get wet)
  • Bring a wet suit if you have one - not essential but good if you feel the cold
