Hire of Boat Shed Racks

Boat Shed space remains the property of the Club at all times and any person hiring it does so under the following conditions:

  • The Club will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of fittings or equipment from boats stored in the Boat Sheds.
  • No boat may be placed in the Boat Sheds unless permission has been obtained from the Shed & Deck Officer who will allocate the boat rack.
  • The hirer must keep his boat, spars and accessories in the rack allocated.
  • The hirer must not interfere with or ‘borrow’ gear from other boats stored in the Boat Sheds.
  • The Shed & Deck Officer should be advised when a boat is removed from the Boats Sheds otherwise full rent will be charged.
  • When a boat stored in the Boat Shed is not regularly sailed in Club races, the Management Committee may declare entitlement to a boat rack forfeited, ask the hirer to remove the boat and reallocate the rack.
  • Shed rent must be paid for the full year when the Annual Membership is paid.
  • Hirers using the Boat Sheds on days other than Club Race Days are responsible for ensuring that the sheds are properly secured and locked both when they go out sailing and when they put their boats back in the racks.

PHOSC management committee nominated Lesley and Ralph (aka Buzz) Skelton for the Cook Community Awards 2017 program run by HON. SCOTT MORRISON MP FEDERAL MEMBER FOR COOK , that recognises exceptional service to the community by volunteers.

Today (2/12/17) at the Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club, not only were they presented with the award by Scott Morrison, but of the forty very worthy recipients from the Cook electorate, Lesley & Buzz also won the highest award possible, the Cook Community Medal for the best representative volunteers in the Cook electorate for 2017.... what an awesome achievement!

This is also the first time in its history that the Cook Community Medal has been awarded to dual recipients!

Both Lesley and Graham are the longest standing members of PHOSC to which the club owes an enormous debt for their enduring & ongoing support of the club, its facilities and members over the last 61 years.

For those of you that weren’t aware Lesley & Buzz actually first met at the club as teenagers, carried on as boyfriend / girlfriend for a while, eventually marrying and creating a fantastic dynasty of kids and grandchildren that we have all met or sailed with at the club at one time or other. Most of the family were on hand to witness the presentation event at Sharkies and the grandkids managed to storm onto the stage for a photo opportunity with Lesley, Buzz and Scott Morrison.

Lesley gave a fantastic impromptu thankyou speech when receiving the award, and of course Buzz knowing he couldn’t out do that effort, (and knowing his place in the Skelton pecking order) just smiled and waved from back stage!

Well done & congratulations to Lesley & Buzz.
